Born and raised on Hawai’i Island, Kerry attended Kealakehe School in Kailua-Kona then went on to graduate with honors from Hawai’i Preparatory Academy in Waimea. After earning a degree in psychology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, Kerry returned home to Hawai’i and spent four years in a leadership position at a local nonprofit organization, managing over 2,400 acres of land (including a national and state registered Historic District) in North Kohala.

Beginning her real estate career in January 2014, Kerry was mentored by her father, John Balaam, who has lived in Hawai’i since 1969 and practiced real estate since 1989.
